Senate Says No To House Funding Bill

(Washington, DC)  --  The Senate is saying no to a House bill aimed at averting a looming government shutdown.  The Republican House measure attempted to link a one-year delay in Obamacare to a bill extending government funding.  The Democratic-led Senate voted to table the House bill, which effectively kills it.  The vote fell along party lines, 54-46.  Without a bipartisan deal to extend funding, a federal government shutdown will start shortly after midnight tonight.  Midnight signifies the end of the current fiscal year.
