Joan Jett is getting recognized for her rocking ways, and making heavy metal history in the process.

The Blackhearts' frontwoman has been tapped to receive the Golden God Award at this year's Revolver Golden Gods ceremony.  The honor celebrates the artist who best "embodies the spirit of hard rock and metal."  Jett is the first woman ever to take the award.

Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose will be honored as well, as this year's recipient of the Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award.  Both Jett and Rose are expected to take part in the awards ceremony, along with Anthrax's Scott Ian, former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley, and others.

The 2014 Revolver Golden Gods will take place in Los Angeles on April 23rd.

Black Sabbath is among the top nominees heading into the fan-voted event.  The band is represented in five categories, including Album of the Year for 13 and Comeback of the Year.  Other hopefuls include Motley Crue and Slayer, who are both vying for Best Live Band.  Metallica's movie "Through the Never" has been nominated for Best Film and Video.  Deep Purple joins Sabbath in the Comeback category.

Voting is under way now at GoldenGods2014.com, and will remain open through April 4th.
